Painting Accepted into Salon International Exhibition

"The Legend of the Red Orchid"

We're very pleased to announce that Charles has had a painting accepted into this year's Salon International Exhibition. "The Legend of the Red Orchid" will hang at the Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio TX from April 5 - 25.

Award in Oil Painters of America Online Showcase

"Standing Nude" has won an Honorable Mention in the Fall 2013 Oil Painters of America Online Showcase!

The Online Showcase is held 3 times a year. This season's competition was open to both associate and signature members. You can view all the great award winners on their website.

Class Schedule for 2014

After the holiday break, Charles' ongoing painting classes in Atlanta will start up again in early January.
These classes regularly utilize still life, portrait and figure work.

Painting - Design and Technique
Tuesday afternoons (1-4 pm) or evenings (6-8:30 pm)
$140 for six weeks

Painting Classes in Atlanta

The next session of Charles' ongoing painting classes in Atlanta will start up again next week.
These classes regularly utilize still life, portrait and figure work.

SPECIAL for the September / October session:
The evening class will have a figure model available for all six classes! (Still life will also be available for those who choose.)
The afternoon class will primarily work from still life, with a possible figure model for the last 2 classes of the session.

New Work: Still Life with Apples

A beautiful new still life painting for our 200th blog post!

This was a special commission from one of Charles' collectors, to serve as a companion piece to one of Charles' earlier paintings. Today they hang beautifully on either side of the client's formal dining room.

Two Paintings Recognized in Online Exhibitions this Month

We were very pleased to discover that "Clementine Reflections" was selected as a finalist in the May 2013 RayMar Fine Art Competition. Each month 12 finalists are chosen by a distinguished artist juror to advance and compete in the final judging at the end of the year. Wish us luck in January!

Figurative Award of Excellence at OPA National Exhibition!

We're very pleased to announce that last weekend at the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition "Majesty Rising" was awarded the John August Dietrich Memorial Figurative Award of Excellence!

A big thank you to awards judge Sherrie McGraw and to InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg TX for hosting in their beautiful space.

Unfortunately we weren't able to make it to the opening reception (I hear we missed a great weekend!) but the gallery was kind enough to send us a photo of the painting with her ribbon.

The exhibition will remain up until June 17, and is also available to view on the gallery's website.
