Three Paintings named as Finalists in ARC Salon

Three of Charles' paintings have been named as finalists in this year's ARC Salon, a sensational online exhibition of representational work put on by the Art Renewal Center.

"The Silver Mask" is included in the Figurative category, and both "The Eternal Dance" and "A Private Audience" are part of the category Imaginative Realism.

Created by the Art Renewal Center, the ARC Salon has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious exhibitions of representational art. This year's Salon includes 1006 works created by 640 artists from 63 countries.

ARC Chairman Fred Ross, in his message on the Salon website, says:

"The quality of the work in this year's ARC Salon is nothing short of sensational, showing a richness and diversity of styles and subject matter comparable to the heyday of the Paris Salons and Royal Academy Exhibitions in the late 19th century. Without fail, each and every year that the ARC Salon has taken place, the quality, beauty and poetry of the works entered rise to ever-higher levels of achievement. The current ARC Salon is a testament to the character and nobility of the human spirit."

"Limelight" an Art Muse Contest Finalist

We are thrilled to once again have a painting chosen as a finalist in the Master Class category of the Art Muse Contest! This time it is "Limelight" selected by September contest juror artist Mark Lague.

"This is a very charming painting. It has a nice value pattern, brought on by a skillful use of alternation. Even though it's black and white, colour can be felt in the shadows. The uplighting is reminiscent of Degas."  -- Mark Lague

The Art Muse Contest is a relatively new online competition, with a different judge each month. Entries are divided into 3 categories according to the artist's experience: Master Class, Emerging Artist, and Budding Artist.

Why Grey Matters and Other Mysteries Explained

Next Saturday, Charles will be conducting two painting demonstrations with an emphasis on the importance of grey's relationship to color.

The demonstrations will take place at Binders Art Supply in Atlanta on Saturday October 1, 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Please plan on joining us if you're in the area.

Charles Named an ARC Salon Exhibition Finalist

Well, the notifications were sent out earlier this week and we were very pleased to hear that Charles has been named a finalist in the 12th International ARC Salon exhibition!

We don't know yet which painting made it in since their list only included artists' names. To increase suspense they're withholding title and category information until the online exhibition goes up and the awards are announced in early November. Finalist paintings are also eligible to be chosen for inclusion in the live exhibition, a new facet added last year to tremendous fanfare and success.

The International ARC Salon is an annual exhibition created by the Art Renewal Center which has grown to be the most prestigious realist art competition in the Americas. Their website is a vast repository of classical realist art and receives over 5 million annual visitors.

The Art Muse Contest is a relatively new online competition, with a different judge every month. Entries are divided into 3 categories according to the artist's experience: Master Class, Emerging Artist and Budding Artist.
