Audubon Artists Inc. 65th Annual Exhibition

"Sara askance" was accepted into the 65th Annual Exhibition of Audubon Artists, Inc. The show is currently hanging at the Salmagundi Art Club (47 Fifth Ave, New York City) until September 28. [The exhibition has already been up for several weeks now, I'm just running a little late with my posting.]

And in case you're wondering why a portrait would be included in a show by a group named Audubon, here's a short snip from their webpage:

Audubon Artists, Inc., a national exhibiting organization of painters, sculptors and graphic artists, was indeed named for the great American artist and ornithologist John James Audubon, but there the association ends, for the exhibitions of Audubon Artists contain paintings, graphics and sculpture in all subjects and themes.... Confusion has existed on the part of the public since the name was first adopted in 1942.

The venue for this exhibition, the Salmagundi Art Club, has served as a center for fine artists from New York and around the country for over 130 years. It has held its current location, a beautiful mid-nineteenth century brownstone on Fifth Avenue, since 1917. Charles visited the organization and toured its galleries during his most recent trip to New York this past summer.
